Summer Fun

Nothing like an evening in the park.

Ok, you can take my picture, but I am NOT going to smile.

Taking a break.

But life isn't all fun and games. Somebody has to make dinner.

Packages Arrived!

"Thank you, Baka! I really like all the new clothes, especially the strawberry shirt and red skirt."

And my cowgirl boots are fitting pretty good these days too.

Grammie!

Grammie was in town for a visit last week. Nina very much enjoyed skipping school and hanging out with her, but the highlight of the trip for me was Friday when I got to skip school and we all went to the beach!

Santa Cruz, where the water is warm enough that you can actually put your feet in without your toes falling off!

Surfer girl.

Highlight of Santa Cruz is the boardwalk with games, rides, and french fries.

Nina rode the helicopter all by herself. That is a first!

Wonderful visit!

Nina and Grammie spent a lot of time at the pool. On the last day of the visit, Nina figured out how to hold onto a noodle and kick her legs to swim around. Of course she wanted to do it "all by myself!". So now she is becoming an expert at motoring around like a half-drown rat while swallowing gallons of pool water. "Again, again!", she repeats.

Summer Smiles

Wedding

Last weekend, we attended Dan & Rachel's wedding. Nina was very curious about the whole affair and had tons of questions. "Why are they getting married?", "Are you married, mommy?" (Then she insisted that her and I are married), "Why did you and daddy get married?", "Why did we have to be quiet during the ceremony?". She thought Rachel was the grandest person that ever existed, but Dan basically got the cold shoulder.

Before the ceremony at the Pigeon Point Lighthouse.

The highlight of the evening was finding decorative glass beads in the gas firepit. (And yes, she has a different dress on now. She demanded to put on her "party dress")

Beach Babe

One more from Sea Ranch...

Sea Ranch

Last weekend, Shaolan and Tom invited us to stay with them up in Sea Ranch. Nina and AJ hit it off right away and had a blast hanging out and doing everything together.

Best Buds.

Monkey see, monkey do.

Fun at the beach.

The water was cold but still irresistible.

Our fabulous hosts.

Our fabulous selves. (There was a wedding on the beach behind us)

Stick Fight!

Story time with Louie.

Los Altos Art & Wine Festival

Time for the annual installment of our adventures at the Los Altos Fair. This was the first year that Nina was able to truly participate in the Kids Zone Activities.

First up was face painting.

Next the flying swing. Once was enough for me!

The Dizzy Dragon

Wouldn't be summer if we weren't on the bicycles.

Finally, some our budding artist's recent creations....

This week she is studying Picasso.

But photography remains a steadfast hobby.

Haircut

I took Nina for her first official beauty salon haircut last week. Before that she had only had a few horrendous knots cut from her bangs, but the rest was the hair that starting growing... oh about two years ago. She was a champion in the chair and sat like a statue the whole time.

Not great shot of the haircut, but Nina sure is proud of herself. And her hair is soooo much easier to brush now with all those fried ends snipped off!

Recent Adventures

Can we just pop into the ice cream shop for a quick peak?

Santa Cruz sun, fun, and merry-go-rounds!

Lemos Farm in Half Moon Bay. We finally made it!

Nina riding her Sassafras!

Memorial Day picnic at Foothills Park.

Yep, summer is officially here!

Pink Dress

A couple weeks ago, we went to the Stanford Powwow. Nina picked out a new pink dress and apparently has been wearing it ever since as it is in every single picture for this post.

The Stanford Powwow.

Lunch at the mall.

The San Francisco Zoo.

In other news, apparently Nina is just about potty trained. She had been showing occasional interest for a couple of months. Then, the second week in her "big girl" classroom, she demanded to wear underwear. Last week, she was accident free! Woohoo!
